Cultivating a diverse workforce speaks to Church Mutual’s values and commitment to the communities we serve. Led by John Tribble, our chief diversity officer, our diversity initiative will enhance our long-term growth and profitability.
The London Conversations™
Church Mutual was a lead sponsor of this global summit, which brought together influencers from around the globe to discuss the positive impact of diversity in the business world. At the event, hosted by Church Mutual board member Walter White, we received an honorable mention for the work we are doing in diversity and inclusion.
Women’s Leadership Initiative
Learning sessions, presentations, training courses and a mentor program highlighted a year of opportunities that helped female employees discover paths toward leadership and career development.
We’ve dedicated resources to help build the communities where we do business. In 2017, we helped fund the restoration of the Holt Street Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, a historic meeting place where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights leaders led massive change. In our company’s hometown of Merrill, Wisconsin, we supported Comunidad Hispana, a cultural awareness organization.
Marquette University Mission Week
CM CARES supported Marquette University’s annual Mission Week, a thought-provoking series of presentations and discussions. The theme for 2017 was “Racial Justice: Black, White and the Call of the Church,” addressing racial disparities and their impact on faith-based organizations.
Not only do we sponsor this program, which encourages African-American men from Milwaukee to complete their college education and succeed in the workforce, we hire its graduates. Our first MKE Fellows graduate joined us full time in June of 2017.
We have begun reviewing our supply chain to ensure our business partners more closely mirror the demographics of our customer base, so we can better serve their needs.
