Clothing drive

Merrill Church Mutual employees were powered by purpose to support their community, collecting 18 boxes of their unneeded professional clothing and accessories. Those items were donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Outreach in Merrill for distribution to local people in need.

CM CARES ® , the Church Mutual Insurance Company Foundation, supports initiatives and organizations throughout the United States. The foundation provides gifts to the United Way, Feeding America, the Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels and other nonprofit causes with local or national impact. In 2022, CM CARES donated more than $500,000 to more than 150 organizations.

Our employees also stepped up to help those less fortunate in their communities. With employee pledges matched by CM CARES, the total raised by our 2022 nationwide United Way campaign came to more than $282,000. Donations were made directly to local United Way affiliates in the communities where we have offices. Since 2000, we have contributed more than $2.3 million to United Way.

In 2022, we put our money where our future is with a $100,000 commitment from CM CARES to start a Boys & Girls Club in our hometown of Merrill. The foundational funding from CM CARES provides an afterschool enrichment program for students at Merrill’s middle school.

CM CARES contributed to the Hurricane Ian relief efforts through the American Red Cross, a nonprofit organization whose mission and values align with our own. We also partnered with the American Red Cross to help provide relief to the Ukrainian people, as the conflict in their country continues to impact millions. Through CM CARES, we donated to three other organizations to help in their efforts to provide essential supplies and services to the people of Ukraine: CARE Ukraine Crisis Fund, UNICEF and WELS World Missions.

The CM CARES Religious Scholars program supports college students of all faiths who are committed to ministry as a career. The program awarded $60,000 in scholarships for the 2022-2023 academic year, giving the religious leaders of tomorrow a helping hand.

We offer our employees paid time off to volunteer, and there were many employees who used that time to lend their individual talents to help others. Over the course of 2022, our employees logged 1,365 hours to make a difference in their communities.
